PlanSwift Partners with SmartBidNet | 8/26/2010

Tech Unlimited, Inc., the company that developed PlanSwift, the easy-to-use construction takeoff software program, announced today a partnership with SMARTBIDNET, a construction bid invitation and bid management software solution that allows general contractors to manage their entire bid process online.

“While PlanSwift provides the industry with an accurate and cost-effective takeoff and estimating solution, SMARTBIDNET provides the bidding management, plan distribution and sub prequalification piece making it a logical choice for a partnership,” said James Purpura, COO of PlanSwift.

Through SMARTBIDNET, a sub contractor receives a bid invitation and can submit a proposal after downloading supporting plans and project specs. From there the general contractor can compare bid proposals, view a project’s history and statistics, and prequalify their sub contractors all online. Also, simple forms allow automatic bid invitations to be sent out and stored in one secure location.

“Our job as solutions providers is to make things as efficient as possible for our users. We are partnering with PlanSwift to create one integrated platform, where users can get their bids done without having to continuously switch between software and programs. PlanSwift is a great estimating and takeoff software and we’re excited to provide it for our users,” said James Benham, President of SMARTBIDNET.

“PlanSwift is the tool needed to provide the features to create precise material takeoffs and estimates, also in one centralized location. With SMARTBIDNET, both of these tools make the bid and estimation process a seamless one right from the start,” said Matthew Miller, Director of Marketing for PlanSwift.

“We think both PlanSwift’s software users and those of SMARTBIDNET will see the immediate benefit of this collaboration and we look forward to the future of this partnership.”

To see why more leading companies are saving time and money with PlanSwift, industry professionals are offered a free 14-day, fully functional download of PlanSwift at http://www.planswift.com. A free one-hour demonstration with an experienced estimator is also included to maximize the trial offer.

"But thanks to College Station, Texas-based SmartBidNet, assembling a bid is getting more and more streamlined. The company’s Web-based software package allows contractors to create a database of subcontractors that may be organized in a variety of ways — where they’re located, their level of skills, their federal minority status, their bid participation levels and even a "report card" on their general performance track record. All of this information is then processed and analyzed to rapidly produce a hopefully winning bid. The product also allows for electronically based bid submission, so lead construction contractors don’t have to spend those extra hours on printing, shipping and other traditional logistical needs to get the bid to the potential customer."

Q&A with SmartBidNet | 08/26/2008 | The Daily Journal of Commerce - Gulf Coast
"How is SmartBidNet different from other online plan rooms or software? There are other businesses out there whose main thrust is to not lose print revenue. They allow contractors to download low-resolution plans that still need to be taken to a professional printing company. There are also other companies that are sales-led services, and they advertise projects to everyone. Then there are pure software companies that want to sell their programs."
