This time demonstrating how objects can be embedded with a processor and wifi connection making it possible to manipulate a tangible interface via a graphical user interface on a device. Friday, February 1, 2013 at 3:29PM TOK Football is a new app that allows you to call up to four friends (who have also downloaded the app) from your iPad and hold a group discussion with running updates on any football game currently airing on TV. For those stuck watching the SuperBowl on their lonesome this year, this is a great way to enjoy gametime banter and Half Time Show commentary with those you hold dear to your game watching experience.
While they regret to inform you that "Beer and hotdogs are not included" the app does allow you to invite friends, find the game you want to follow, watch live updates and commentary from the game, and even let's you contribute a variety of cheers via the "Sound Carousel." We think the Sound Carousel sounds worth it even if you and your four friends are watching the game together.

Monday, September 10, 2012 at 3:28PM Finally - a solution to feeling dumber than our kids when they teach us how to do something on our iPad. Starting October 1, Toys R Us will debut the Tabeo, a tablet just for kids running on Android OS.
"The device is wrapped in a soft "bumper" to protect the hardware if it falls out of a child's slippery fingers. It also includes extra controls in the device's built-in browser. For example, parents can set different Internet safety controls for up to eight users, either by blocking certain categories of content or disallowing access to specific sites. The Tabeo can also be set to allow Internet access only on certain days or during certain hours."
It will be interesting to see if parents prefer to get kids their own or keep letting them use the family tablet. While the Tabeo seems much more kid-proof, many of the child safety apps and cases available for regular tablets can render any tablet "safe for children."

Friday, July 13, 2012 at 4:01PM "The "NBC Olympics Live Extra" app will let users watch more than 3,500 hours of live events on tablets and smartphones. But only customers who have a cable or satellite subscription will get full access -- and the app is available only on Apple devices and a "select" list of Android phones and tablets."
Not much else to say here other than download the app and GO TEAM USA!

Thursday, June 28, 2012 at 10:48AM So it may not be as business related as what we normally post, but it's quite a step up in mobile computing. iPieces essentially turns your iPad into a variety of board games, from air hockey to Snakes & Ladders, you can install the app and even buy the additional pieces to have a mobile suite of board games.
"Players can represent a country of their choice to compete in a variety of fun and exciting tournaments when they download the Air Hockey App. iPieces Air Hockey is suitable for 2 players and contains 2 iPieces Air Hockey Strikers and the downloadable app."
We imagine this "tablet as a workable, 3D surface" technology will only keep spreading to more practical, business-related ventures. However, I don't know about you guys but I bet we can find a way to make this essential to our work day...

1) 50% of American mobile users will own a smartphone by Christmas 2011
2) One in three of Americans will own a tablet PC by 2015
comScore statistics from June 2011 show that with only a few months left until Christmas, the amount of smartphones users is only at about 34%. And we’ll give prediction 2 at least a year or two before cross-examining, but note that as of June 2011 still only 8% of Americans own tablets.
